| "Odalisque: The lovely Irene" after Matisse Gouache on panel Xan Blackburn Irene won a contest I held for "Best Odalisque" on Greytalk. Out of many close contenders (the greyhound is a luxurious beast!), Irene took the field. I had it in mind to take my inspiration from the painterly style of Matisse, which is a bit of a departure for me. The gouache is eminently suited to this style, and I had a blast.
